How I can help

Your concerns matter.
Let’s talk about them.

Every child’s educational journey is different, and so are the challenges families face along the way.

Whether you’re navigating special education services, struggling to get your child’s needs met, questioning a school decision, or simply unsure of your next steps, I’m here to help you understand your rights, explore your options, and advocate for your child.

You don’t have to go through it alone.

Making sense of the details, together.
01

Understand your child’s support

We look at IEPs, 504 Plans, evaluations, services, and accommodations. I explain what they mean and how they connect to your child’s individual needs.

02

Feel ready for the meeting

I help you organize your concerns, prepare questions, and participate meaningfully. I can also attend IEP and 504 meetings, in person or virtually, depending on availability.

03

Make the details count

Together, we review records and school communication, identify what needs attention, and strengthen the documentation that helps tell your child’s story.

04

Know your rights and options

If something doesn’t feel right, we ask questions and look at the facts. I help you understand your options, including state complaints when appropriate, and why a particular approach may make sense.

My approach

I don’t just speak up.
I help you find your voice.

I share my thoughts, my notes, and my reasoning. I want you to understand what’s happening, why it matters, and how to use that knowledge for your child.

01

First, I listen.

Tell me about your child—their strengths, their struggles, and what your family is experiencing.

02

Then, we make sense of it.

We look at your concerns and options. I explain what I mean, then show you where the law supports it.

03

We advocate, together.

You stay involved and informed. My goal is to help you grow more confident in advocating for your child.

I’ve been on your side of the table.

Hi, I’m Amber.

I’m an educational advocate with a focus in special education—and a parent who knows what it feels like to wonder whether your child is getting the support they need.

My journey began with my own children. I had to learn a system I was never taught to navigate, ask difficult questions, and keep speaking up. What started with my family became a passion for helping others.

I bring 14 years of educational advocacy experience, including 11 years focused on special education. That experience is grounded in firsthand advocacy, extensive independent research, studying special education laws and regulations, and learning through real situations.

I’m compassionate with families, direct when something isn’t right, and serious about helping you understand your options. You don’t need to have it all figured out before reaching out.

My mission

Your voice belongs
in the conversation.

At Advocacy by Amber, my mission is to empower families by helping them understand their rights, find their voice, and navigate the educational system with confidence.

As a parent who has walked this journey myself, I understand how overwhelming, frustrating, and isolating the process can feel. I believe every child deserves an education that meets their individual needs, and every parent deserves to be heard, respected, and meaningfully involved in their child’s education.

My goal is to make sure families never feel like they have to navigate that journey alone.

Before we ask how to stop or mitigate a behavior, we need to ask what that child is trying to tell us.

Remember, not every child can tell us what they’re feeling, what they need, or what they’re struggling with.

Sometimes, their behaviors are their voice.

Questions are welcome.

Let’s start with
what’s on your mind.

You don’t have to know all the terminology to ask for help. We can work through it together.

What’s the difference between an IEP and a 504 Plan?

An Individualized Education Program (IEP) provides specially designed instruction and related services to eligible students with disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

A 504 Plan provides accommodations and supports to help students with disabilities access their education under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Both are designed to support students with disabilities, but they have different eligibility requirements and protections.

Can you attend IEP or 504 meetings with me?

Absolutely! I can attend IEP and 504 meetings with you, either in person or virtually, depending on scheduling and availability.

I’m there to help ensure your concerns are heard, your questions are addressed, and you understand the decisions being made about your child’s education.

My goal is to help you feel prepared, supported, and confident throughout the process.

How much do your advocacy services cost?

Every family’s situation is different, and the level of support needed can vary. I encourage you to reach out by phone, text, or email so we can discuss your concerns and determine how I may be able to help.

Will my family’s information and my child’s educational records remain confidential?

Yes, absolutely. I understand that families trust me with sensitive and personal information about their children, and I take that responsibility seriously.

All educational records and personal information shared with Advocacy by Amber are treated as confidential. Information is used solely for the purpose of understanding your child’s needs and providing advocacy services.

Your family’s information will not be shared with schools or other parties without your authorization, except where disclosure is required by law.

Your child’s privacy and your family’s trust are important to me. Read about privacy and confidentiality.
